For the first few weeks, you may have difficulty keeping him dry during the night.  Most puppies are unable to control themselves for that length of time.  A puppy will instinctively use absorbent material, so leave him some newspapers which can be thrown away, and make things easier by taking him out last thing at night and first thing in the morning.
